The Tech App: What Your Window Cleaners See on Their Phones
The office plans the day. The tech lives it. Window cleaning software only works if the person on the ladder can see what they need without stopping to call anyone, and that comes down to the tech app: the screen on the phone in their pocket.
Where the Office Hands Off to the Field
Everything covered so far, including the one-time jobs from Spring Cleans and Move-Outs: One-Time Jobs in Window Cleaning Software, ends up on a tech's phone. This is an overview of what the tech sees in WindowBossPro and why each piece is there.
Logging In and Seeing the Day
The tech app runs in the browser on iPhone and Android and can be installed to the home screen, so there is no app store download and no special device. Techs log in with your company login plus their own personal PIN. That PIN ties every completion, photo and clock-in to the right person.
Once in, the tech sees their jobs for the day in route order — the same order the office set on the dispatch board. When the office moves a job, the tech's list follows. Each tech sees only their own van's jobs.
What's on Each Job Card
Every card shows the address with a navigation button that opens directions in one tap. Under the address are the window details: “28 windows · 2-story · Inside & Outside · Screens.” Below that are the access notes — gate code, dog, where to set the ladder, skylights — and any job notes from the office.
That is everything a tech needs to decide which ladder to pull, which side of the glass to clean, and how to get around back. A tech who has never been to the address can do the job right the first time.
Start, Skip, Complete
Three buttons run the job:
- Start tells the office the job is underway.
- Skip is for when the job can't be done — a locked gate, a customer who asked to reschedule, rain. The tech adds a note so the office knows why.
- Complete marks the job done.
Along the way the tech can take before-and-after photos and add notes, both saved with the job. Photos are the answer when a customer says a window was missed. Notes are how the tech tells the office that the count was wrong or there is a new skylight.
Texts and Payment Without Extra Taps
As the tech works the route, the customer gets automatic on-the-way and arrived texts. The tech does not type them. Customers choose which alerts they get — the night before, when they are next, and when the tech arrives — and replies go to the office through two-way texting.
When the tech taps Complete, the invoice is created and the card on file can be charged. For most recurring customers, the job is paid before the van leaves the driveway, without the tech handling money.
The Time Clock and Crew GPS
Techs clock in and out in the same app, so hours are recorded as they happen. During the workday, crew GPS from the techs' phones shows on the office map, so the office can tell a customer how close the crew is or send the nearest van to an added job.
That same location feeds the customer app, where customers see their place on today's route. More on that in The Customer App: What Your Window Cleaning Customers See.
Why Simple Matters
Window cleaners did not get into the trade to fill out forms. A tech app that asks for a few taps per job — Start, photos, Complete — gets used. One that asks for ten fields gets ignored, and then the office is back to calling techs for updates. The goal is a screen a new tech can learn on their first ride-along.
Simple also means working with what techs already carry. Because the app runs in the phone's browser, there is nothing to buy and nothing to install from a store. A new hire logs in on their own iPhone or Android phone with the company login and their PIN, and the day is there.
Because WindowBossPro is never billed per user, every tech, part-timer and the owner can have the app on every plan.
The Office in the Tech's Pocket
Route order, navigation, window details, access notes, photos, automatic texts, payment and the time clock on one phone. That is what keeps techs on the glass and off the phone with the office. See how the tech app fits with the rest of the system on the window cleaning software page.
